Testing Required: Not Applicable

Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes - Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

Manages complex financial analysis relating to financial statement and tax analysis, capital investment decisions, budget and forecasting and long-term planning. This position will support Regulatory Accounting primarily supporting rate case development, preparing financial models, exhibits, testimony, discovery responses and other regulatory filings.

Key Accountabilities

For Regulatory Accounting:

  • Supports regulatory filings including preparing financial models, exhibits, testimony, and discovery responses.
  • Analyzes MPSC and FERC filings, proposed settlement agreements and orders for accounting implications. Applies knowledge of MPSC and FERC accounting requirements, regulatory economic theory, rate-making processes, and U.S. GAAP to determine the appropriate accounting treatment for new or potential transactions and programs.
  • Provides formal written recommendations to management and clients and conducts special studies.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related or technical discipline and seven years of experience in accounting and cost tracking, working with budgets, forecasts or variance analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with regulatory accounting or economics and financial modeling and accounting
  • Project management skills
  • Experience writing technical papers and formal written recommendations to management and clients

  • * PC Proficiency, including experience with MS Office Products.
  • * Ability to implement operating system tools and techniques.
  • * Ability to provide leadership and guidance to others.

  • * Proficient verbal, nonverbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • * Working knowledge of financial systems.
