This is an on-site position. The pay range for this role is between $99,900 - $115,000 annually.

Summary

Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services is seeking a Program Director for our new Transitional Aged Youth Resource Center of Excellence (TAY Center) in Glendale. The TAY Center will offer comprehensive, centralized care for unserved, underserved, or inappropriately served youth and young adults who experience unique developmental and transitional challenges. The focus will be on supporting those who are transitioning out of the child welfare or mental health system, are unhoused or at risk of being unhoused, and/or are at risk of poor community functioning. Through a safe and welcoming environment as well as community- and field-based services, the Center will provide integrative and specialized access to mental and physical health care, housing services, educational and job assistance, life skills, and interventions aimed at strengthening relationships with supportive adults and peers.

The TAY Center is our newest commitment to advancing health equity for young people through accessible, trauma-informed, whole-person care.

Primary Duties

Program Leadership & Development

  • Develops realistic and measurable objectives for TAY Center programs and TAY Center operations.
  • Develops and implements an innovative and empirically-based program that leads to effective outcomes.
  • Project manages all aspects of its initial implementation, including construction, staff recruitment, service development, and community outreach and marketing.
  • Ensures delivery of services in accordance with contracted guidelines and Didi Hirsch values.
  • Forms a highly effective team to accomplish the TAY Center's short and long-term goals.
  • Provides leadership to TAY Center staff ensuring that the client services meet or exceed contractual or grant performance goals.
  • Develops strong community partnerships to support the TAY Center's programs and participants.
  • Participates in local and state-level meetings related to TAY-centric policies, funding, and services.
  • Creates and oversees a youth advisory board to assist in the development and implementation of the Center.

Management Duties

  • Performs managerial duties to include interviewing applicants for employment; assigning and reviewing progress of assignments; conducting performance appraisals; recommending salary increases; and developing higher levels of expertise in staff members by encouraging further education, participation in seminars and providing learning opportunities within program mental health and/or substance abuse services.
  • Identifies staff training needs and ensures development and implementation of programs that address needs; participates in delivering training sessions to meet the needs of staff related to clinical/program needs.
  • Coaches staff in the development of their work plans, their assigned duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Attends, participates, leads and/or facilitates routinely scheduled meetings as requested or required for the program, division, or Agency.

Program Quality, Compliance and Reporting

  • Works closely with the Research & Evaluation and Quality Improvement departments to comprehensively examine the long-term impact of the services and make continuous quality improvements to optimize effectiveness.
  • Ensures outcome measures are regularly collected and analyzed to assess progress and effectiveness of program.
  • Reviews chart documentation, status reports and dashboards to ensure the program and staff meet or exceed required Agency, grant, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Ensures all administrative documentation is accurate and submitted within the established timeframe.
  • Maintains compliance with the various funding stream and contract requirements.

Financial Duties

  • Efficiently utilizes financial resources while maintaining commitment to quality service when purchasing necessary program supplies.
  • Assists in the development of program budget and ensures expenditures comply with approved budgets; monitors and evaluates budget issues and recommends corrective action.
  • Pursues new funding streams in partnership with the Didi Hirsch Grants & Development Team.
  • Actively seeks out and engages potential funders, both private and public, and explores funding opportunities.
  • Has ability to flexibly navigate and coordinate a braided and blending funding stream model.

Position Requirements

  • Active licensure as a LPCC, LCSW, MFT, Psy.D, Ph.D (licensed) and two years' experience working with individuals and families with a history of mental illness and/or substance use in a social service/mental health environment.
  • Demonstrate experience and commitment to supporting transition aged youth from diverse backgrounds and with complex needs.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of services specific to transitional aged youth (16-25), including mental health services, substance use services, housing and employment services, and crisis services.
  • Experience working with foster youth desirable.
  • Have experience in program development.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Evidence Based Practices and/or the Recovery Model of treatment.
  • Support the values and mission of Didi Hirsch as related to employment.
    Know and comply with Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, DMH policies and documentation guidelines, and other state, federal regulations relating to quality assurance and improvement.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and management skills.
  • Present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Efficiently use the personal computer including word processing, spreadsheets, and other related software programs.
  • Manage employee performance consistent with defined Didi Hirsch processes.
  • Utilize analysis, experience, and judgment to make solid business and therapeutic decisions.
  • Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
  • Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Current California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.
