Job Description

The Sr. LVN is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. The Sr. LVN provides licensed medical support to medical care providers as a vocational nurse for the department/clinical team to which it is assigned. The Sr. LVN is supervised by a licensed physician or registered nurse when performing duties within the vocational nurse scope of practice. The Sr. LVN works under the direction of clinic/department management for administrative purposes, including customer service, professional behavior & development, assignment & scheduling of work, and performance of job functions not requiring supervision by a LIP.

Minimum Qualifications

  • California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
  • Minimum two (2) years LVN experience.
  • Must provide documentation of graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing, or completion of education and experience as a corpsman in the United States military.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR certification or equivalent UCDH-issued CPR certification.
  • Must provide proof of valid Intravenous (IV) Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification.
  • Knowledge of clinic's practices and protocols related to medical records, medical assisting, nursing support, and other business and office procedures.
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, and guidelines governing medical records; confidentiality, privacy, and provision to others, including HIPAA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous outpatient clinic experience.
  • Previous ENT clinic experience.
  • Previous endoscopy experience.

Department Description

The Department of Otolaryngology provides a multitude of comprehensive services within the clinic for both the pediatric and adult populations. These services include general otolaryngology, head, and neck cancer, skull base surgery, ear surgery, cochlear implant, facial plastic, and reconstructive surgery, nasal sinus, craniofacial anomalies, voice/swallowing, speech, and language therapy, audiology, dental and skin care. The Otolaryngology Clinic has more than twenty thousand patient visits per year and is ranked 25th among all Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialties in America.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to safely lift 25 pounds and assist in moving patients, and to stand on feet over extended periods.
  • Works overtime as defined by the collective bargaining agreements; floats to other areas/locations; and works weekends, holidays and call as required.

  • This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
