DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of the OR Materials Manager, responsible for assembling surgical case carts with proper surgical instrumentation and other necessary surgical supply items and implants. Serves as a liaison between OR Materials Management, Sterile Processing Department and Operating Room staff to assure smooth, uninterrupted daily OR support.

Responsible for using EPIC Optime to print and review OR schedules and print surgical preference cards. Responsible for using SPM, SPD's instrument tracking system to scan instruments to OR case carts and to associate OR case carts to the specific OR case. Responsible for using SPM to locate missing instruments based on previous scan points. Coordinates with the OR front desk, OR leadership, and OR clinical coordinators to ensure that the appropriate preference card is selected for the surgical case. Coordinates, pulls from inventories, and prepares necessary supplies and instruments for emergent and routine surgical cases. Ensures proper supplies for each case are delivered as needed, and works closely with Service Coordinators, Perioperative Services Materials Management Team and Sterile Processing Department to promote a team effort in meeting surgical case needs.

Inspects all packaging and wrapped or rigid containers for integrity of sterile inventory & instrumentation. Collaborates with Materials Management staff on stock rotation in order to prevent inventory expiration. Supports Materials Management purchasing team with advance notice of low stock items and empty bins to ensure adequate supplies. Assists in performing global substitutions of supply items in EPIC OpTime that are permanently discontinued or on an extended supply backorder in order to maintain integrity of preference cards. Identifies and anticipates potential problems by taking action to prevent or minimize the effect of the issue. Facilitates continuous communications and performance improvement as it relates to all surgical instruments, implants, supplies, and equipment. Performs other related functions as assigned.

This position will be for an overnight schedule.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of related supply/materials management experience, preferably in a large, complex healthcare environment.
  • Previous case picking experience.
  • Previous SPD or OR Tech experience.
  • Experience with the receipt of deliverables.
  • Knowledge of EPIC, SPM Instrument Tracking, Premier Connect (previously Pro Click).
  • Medical terminology training and/or certificate.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
