Job Description

The Specialist/Division Damage Prevention position supports the Division/Districts in the effort of mitigating pipeline damages by various methods. This position is responsible for helping to ensure pipeline safety in the Division/Districts through detailed data analysis, focused outreach programs, and strategic partnerships with various stakeholders. This position will be an active member in damage prevention committees sponsored by industry damage prevention groups. The position will be responsible for the damage cause database and reporting the results to Corporate staff.

POSITION DIMENSIONS

The incumbent does not have accountability for direct reports or budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are clear precedents and practices which the incumbent uses to determine how this job is performed. This position requires five to seven years of relevant industry work experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote Damage Prevention in the community through outreach events
  • Create partnerships with various organizations in the community for Damage Prevention outreach
  • Maintain and increase partnerships with plumbing supply companies for Cross Bore Program
  • Provide training to contractor personnel, public entities, and personnel outside of the Company as needed on damage prevention related topics and activities to enhance damage prevention awareness
  • Utilize data analytics to assist in the targeting of contractors to patrol
  • Respond to alerts in the field of unsafe excavation practices
  • Assist in the development and/or revision of Company standards, policies, and procedures as they relate to Damage Prevention
  • Review and compile damage prevention metrics to assist in the understanding and prevention of pipeline damages
  • Serve as an information source for damage prevention questions, referring to state and Division statute interpretations
  • Tracking and monitoring all pipeline Damages in the Division/Districts
  • Perform operations system and database comparisons, analyze results, implement necessary changes, and write/update process improvements to ensure compliance between databases
  • Update and/or create process improvements to ensure the integrity of the data being tracked
  • Evaluate and implement damage prevention training, with second-party line locate and pipeline contractors.
  • Investigate Division pipeline damages to determine the damage cause and the responsible party
  • Attend and represent the Division at conferences such as the Common Ground Alliance (CGA) and American Gas Association (AGA)
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

SALARY DETAILS

$74,199 - $111,299
