About the Role:

This exciting new role supports our scientists by leading efforts to maintain and improve a robust and state of the art research software environment. Supports procurement of software and IT Services for R&D including vendor management, working closely with our IT Business Partner to manage the dynamic portfolio of IT systems and services for R&D.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Understand and verify technical, security, and integration requirements before purchase of new systems, in close communication with scientific and IT business partners

  • Monitor licenses and contracts to ensure timely renewal or retirement ahead of expiration dates

  • Enter requisitions and contracts for approval and monitor approval progress

  • Expedite contributions from legal and finance teams to successfully complete procurement or renewal of hundreds of systems annually

  • Review cross functional requirements for errors and omissions and clarify language prior to communication with external vendors

  • Assist with negotiation of favorable pricing, terms, and conditions

  • Review, monitor and track spending to comply with budget

  • Accurately update records of software inventory and attributes

  • Proactively submit detailed requests for deployment of computers, networking, and storage to implement new software products

  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding progress and roadblocks affecting delivery informatics systems

  • Manage end-user software documentation

  • Own enhancements to data workflow processes

  • For all areas, lead, train and mentor less experienced team members

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science or related field and 4+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, within a research setting providing impactful solutions to scientists OR

  • 8+ years of related experience as noted above

  • Knowledge of software implementation needs related to hardware, operating system, networking, storage, data transfer, data sharing, integration, and security requirements

  • Experience with review of software contracts and license agreements with the ability to translate scientific and technical requirements to legal and security teams

  • Excellent and precise technical and financial communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent record keeping skills

  • Experience installing or using software on Linux and Windows operating systems a plus

  • Has strong understanding of processes, procedures and systems used to accomplish the work and recognizes downstream impact on other functional areas

  • Ability to work as part of a team; may train lower levels

  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency

  • Excellent computer skills

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $106,400.00-$154,325.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
