JOB DESCRIPTION

The Provider Network Ambassador is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the relationships with dental providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services across various lines of business. As a Provider Network Ambassador, you'll serve as the face of Delta Dental within the provider community, striving to establish a superior provider experience through effective management of provider networks, and fostering positive relationships with providers and their teams. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a robust and compliant provider network, contributing to Delta Dental's mission of providing high-quality dental care to its members while ensuring business growth, and competitiveness in the market.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Geographic Coverage: Manages provider relationships from San Diego to San Bernardino.
  • Consultative Support: Provides guidance and support to network providers, promoting the utilization of digital online tools and value-added services to enhance business efficiency and success.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with providers and dental office staff to improve the overall provider experience and position Delta Dental as the preferred and trusted partner.
  • Network Stability and Growth: Ensures the size and stability of provider networks align with client growth needs, minimizing turnover while maintaining high quality, cost-effective, and competitive networks. Collaborates closely with the Network Development and Sales teams.
  • Compliance and Training: Conducts provider outreach, education, training, and on-site dental office reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Performance Monitoring: Partners with internal stakeholders to monitor provider performance against contractual obligations, ensuring compliance and conducting follow-up as necessary.
  • Interaction and Issue Resolution: Engages in virtual or face-to-face interactions with key regional and local provider partners, monitoring utilization patterns, resolving issues, and recommending practice management tools for effective plan administration.
  • Appointment Availability: Assesses appointment availability through service calls, addresses reported deficiencies, and facilitates network compliance.
  • Collaboration and Market Analysis: Collaborates with cross-functional teams, the dental provider community, and organized dentistry to gain insights into provider market trends, issues, and opportunities. Reviews competitor information and internal data to determine network retention strategies and assesses cost-effectiveness in key markets.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Travel, Vehicle, and Expense Requirements: Must be willing to travel 2-3 days per week, utilizing personal vehicles and commercial flights. Overnight stays may be necessary. Delta Dental provides a monthly car allowance. A valid driver's license, acceptable Department of Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and $250,000/$500,000 collision damage liability insurance policy for the car are required. Ability to sustain company expenses for a period of one month. Employees may submit eligible expenses for reimbursement
  • Experience and Education: Candidates should have 2 or more years of experience, preferably with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Additionally, 2 or more years of dental managed care or related healthcare experience is required. Preferred qualifications include a minimum of 3 years of front office dental administration and/or back office dental assisting experience.
  • Relationship Management: Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with both external and internal business partners is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary to clearly present information and findings.
  • Organizational Skills: Demonstrated organizational, time management, prioritization, project management, and delivery skills are important for effective performance in the role.
  • Professional Selling Skills: Familiarity with Professional Selling Skills (PSS) principles is beneficial.
  • Market Knowledge: Ability to interpret various forms of information, including marketplace and provider perceptions, is required.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) is necessary.
  • Adaptability: Ability to operate in an environment of rapidly changing priorities is preferred.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Knowledge of dental and general insurance procedures is beneficial.
  • Dental Terminology: Familiarity with Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes and dental nomenclature is preferred.
  • Communication and Negotiation Skills: Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and listening skills are essential for successful interactions with stakeholders.

The national base pay range at the end is a good faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $59,000 - $130,900
