We are currently seeking a full-time Receiving Inspector for our 1st shift (6:30am - 3:00 pm) Monday- Friday at our Kearny Mesa location in San Diego, CA.

What does the job involve?

The Receiving Inspector is responsible for ensuring quality standards and specifications are met on incoming and outside processing material and products. Records and clears material in manufacturing resource planning (MRP) system.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • Inspects raw material, customer furnished material, and/or products for conformance to specifications and certificate packs or purchase order.
  • Verifies certificate pack matches material with appropriate part number, job number, heat lot number, serial number or forging number, quantity, size, and shape.
  • Accurately counts and visually inspects material and products for damage and cleanliness.
  • Inspects quality inspection tools, including micrometer and calipers and perform basic dimensional tolerances.
  • Identifies items for acceptance and/or rejection.
  • Records appropriate information on traveler and certificate pack for material/products identified for acceptance.
  • Clears and receives items in MRP.
  • Rejects discrepant or non-conforming material/part and maintain in hold/re-work area.
  • Initiates system supplier corrective action request and submits for review.
  • Stores raw material in designated storage area within facility.
  • Completes and forwards certificate packs and/or other documents to appropriate departments.
  • Reports status within manufacturing operations of inspection results.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions and complete work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to listen and follow corporate policies, goals and objectives, accept constructive criticism, establish goals and objectives, and exhibit initiative and commitment.
  • Maintains accurate filing and storing of records.
  • Maintains clean work area.
  • Complies with all safety requirements.

What key skills and experience do I need?

  • Familiar with personal computers, photocopiers, fax machines, and calculators.
  • Ability to work with high precision measurement equipment and quality inspection tools, including micrometer and calipers.
  • Ability to use test meter (VOM) and tool making devices.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Use computerized spreadsheets to conduct analysis.
  • Use desktop publishing software.
  • Must be detail oriented.

What qualifications should I have?

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified ISO AS9100, 9001 NADCAP, RCCA or SSA preferred.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of quality manufacturing experience.
  • Prior experience with AS9100, 9001 NADCAP, RCCA or SSA preferred.
