Job Description

Director of Spa

The Director of Spa will lead a team dedicated to promoting a wellness focused lifestyle which transcends through all spa experiences and fitness center facilities enjoyed by our guests. You will be responsible for leading the team to operational excellence, executing the goals established by the General Manager, and ensuring all our guests have an exceptional experience.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Spa and fitness center with a focus on all service and operational logistics, with detailed knowledge in all aspects of spa reception, retail, spa therapy, treatments, and spa facilities.
  • Provide managerial support to Spa colleagues, including scheduling, training, providing constructive feedback, performance reviews, and recognition.
  • Lead recruitment efforts and talent management of team members.
  • Perform duties of budgeting, forecasting, inventory and ordering, publicity and promotional activities.
  • Maintain all brand and quality luxury service standards.
  • Oversee Spa retail, pricing, and develop strategies to increase overall revenues.
  • Provide an exceptional experience to all guests, promptly handling any guest comments, complaints, or concerns with discretion and urgency.
  • Maintain consistent flow of communication among fellow managers and colleagues and effective relationships with supporting departments.
  • Ensure that sufficient staffing is present to meet daily business demands.
  • Approach all encounters with guests, colleagues and members in a professional and personalized manner while leading and coaching the team to do the same.
  • Must have a professional image and personality exuding confidence and leadership skills while encouraging safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Complete projects and CapEx investments in a timely manner as required by the General Manager.
  • Be able to participate proficiently in functions outside one's department when called upon.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times and that all colleagues are committed to working safely.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all guest sensitive information at all times.
  • Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the annual Spa budget and capital plans.
  • Ensure monthly forecast for Spa is accurate and on target.
  • Lead recruitment efforts and talent management of team members.
  • Lead training, coaching, and development of team members.
  • Champion employee engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain consistency in accordance to Forbes/LQA and Fairmont standards.
  • Coordinate renovation projects and preventative maintenance in the spa and fitness center with the Director of Engineering.
  • Ability to organize and follow through with outside contractors.
  • Ensure the necessary resources, functional tools and equipment including linen is readily available through the wellness facilities.
  • Execute labor standards and productivity in line with hotel target.
  • Develop and implement trainings & SOP's to align with Accor and Fairmont Service Standards for all new and existing colleagues to positively improve results in Guest Satisfaction (VOG), Compliance with Brand Standards (LQA/Forbes), Employee Engagement (EES) and Guest Loyalty (ALL).
  • Assess guest feedback and celebrate successes while solving challenges.
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards.
  • Follow all safety policies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Previous leadership experience in a spa or hotel required, preferably within a luxury environment
  • Proven knowledge of driving spa revenues, retail sales, and ensuring maximum efficiency of the booking channels
  • Strong guest service orientation and training skills background required
  • Highly organized, results-oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
