A manufacturer in the San Gabriel Valley is looking for a Controller to add to their team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing month-end close, inventory accounting, the internal audit, managing bank relationships, and overseeing a team. To be successful in this role, the Controller should be an experienced leader, have great communication skills, and have technical accounting chops. Does this sound like you or someone you know? What do you need for this Controller role?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 10+ years of management experience in accounting
  • Inventory accounting experience is a MUST
  • Must be an active CPA
  • Public accounting experience is great but not necessary
What will you do in this Controller role?
  • Oversee inventory valuations, standard costing, FIFO and LIFO methods, and inventory reserves
  • Monitor inventory levels and turnover rates, optimizing inventory management processes to minimize carrying costs and stockouts
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies, ensuring accuracy of inventory records
  • Implement cost accounting systems and procedures to track manufacturing costs, including direct labor, materials, and overhead
  • Analyze cost variances and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
  • Collaborate with operations teams to develop and implement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce waste
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures, conducting periodic audits to assess effectiveness
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as needed to support financial reporting and compliance efforts
  • Lead and mentor a team of professionals and provide guidance, training, and development opportunities
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture that promotes accountability and continuous improvement
