The Academy

  • Full time (M-F 7:00a-3:30p)
  • 90 day training course


Are you working towards getting your A&P? Or potentially have one of the two but working on the other? Or do you have aviation mechanical experience in general? Then The Academy is for you! We are looking for people who have always had a passion for mechanical work such as automotive, motorcycle repair, etc. You will be placed in The Academy, spending 90 days learning the StandardAero Way as well as get "ramped up" to become a strong A&P Technician. Our technicians service, repair and assist with the overall maintenance of corporate jet (Gulfstream) aircraft.

SkillBridge Specific Information:

This is an unpaid fellowship through theDepartment of Defense (DoD)SkillBridgeProgram.The fellow selected for this role will not receive compensation or benefits from StandardAero and will not be an employee, agent, or contractor of StandardAero but rather will remain an employee of the DoD and will receive compensation and benefits through the DoD.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility Requirements:

  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.


Position Requirements

  • A passion for mechanical work, aviation background preferred.
  • Mechanical background experience such as automotive, motorcycle, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of operating a personal computer or laptop.
  • Knowledge of job-specific machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Capable of repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Able to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Capable of determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Able to perform tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Able to install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Ability to control operations of equipment or systems.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
