Job Title: Japanese Bilingual In-House Legal
Experience Level: Mid-Senior
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Remote

Overview:
The Legal Manager plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of legal department. You'll leverage your legal expertise and exceptional communication skills to navigate complex legal issues, navigate regulations, and provide strategic support across various departments. Additionally, you'll serve as a vital bridge between our US and Japanese operations.

Essential Responsibilities:
* Draft, review, and finalize legal agreements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulations.
* Conduct comprehensive legal research and prepare insightful presentations.
* Proactively identify and address potential compliance concerns with various agencies.
* Partner with leadership to prepare for and participate in board meetings and compliance reporting initiatives.
* Collaborate with external counsel on intellectual property matters.
* Clearly communicate legal updates and implications to senior management, international teams, and HQ colleagues.
* Develop and maintain a robust system for legal document retention (electronic and physical).
* Facilitate communication with external legal professionals.
* Manage litigation schedules and ensure efficient case progression.
* Lead legal team meetings and maintain detailed minutes for future reference.
* Contribute to the overall success of the legal department through additional assigned tasks.

Qualifications:
* Fluent in both Japanese and English (written, verbal, and comprehension)
* 7-10 years of experience in-house legal or law firm setting
* Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited institution and active legal license in California/New York or Japan.
* Prior experience in the medical device, medical equipment, or pharmaceutical industries (highly preferred)

The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance.
