3% effective 1/20/25 ($43,550 - $55,588 Annually)

The Assessor-Recorder's Office is currently offering an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career as a Recording Technician I. This classification series is utilized in the Recorder's Office and is primarily oriented to filing, recording and indexing real property, other legal documents and instruments, and issuing vital records. Incumbents in this series perform specialized work which involves receiving, reviewing, researching, processing and determining the recordability of a variety of documents in compliance with State laws and regulations, applicable government code, revenue and taxation code, civil code, and health and safety code sections.

As a condition of employment candidates may undergo a thorough and detailed personal background investigation. These investigations may include consumer credit history as well as arrest/criminal records. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified. Background materials for failed candidates are retained for three years.

Please note: The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.

Positions in this classification are in Medical Group I - Light Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require only light physical effort and may include lifting of small, light objects and some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching. Considerable walking or standing may be involved.

Eligible candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience which involved the examination and processing of real property documents or vital records.

Substitution: Completion of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, with (30) semester units of completed coursework equating to one (1) year of the required experience.


Please note: Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system meets the minimum qualification under the substitution.

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Depending upon the number of applicants meeting the minimum qualifications and filing requirements, applicants may be scheduled for one or more of the processes listed below.

  • Certify Without Examination - In instances where the number of eligible candidates is less than or equal to the number of qualified applicants the Department is entitled to receive under Personnel Rule 4212, the competitive examination process will be waived and the names will be certified without an examination.
  • Online Examination - If required, the examination will be offered in an online format. Please indicate on the supplemental questionnaire if you have the ability to complete an online examination.

Successful candidates will be placed on an employment list, effective for a minimum of 3 months (may be extended up to an additional 12 months), and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
