SummaryDevelop and maintain relationships with new and existing clients for the purposes of finding new steel frame projects and getting commitments to use SidePlate technology. This is a Remote position and reports to the Director of Business Development, SidePlate.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage sales leads, prospects, and customer accounts with agreed business objectives.

  • Research and mine data from lead resources such as online construction databases to find potential new projects.
  • Call on various design and construction professionals, including engineers, fabricators, general contractors, erectors, etc. to inquire about new prospective clients and projects.
  • Set up and conduct webinars and live technical presentations on SidePlate technology to various audiences.
  • Provide regular in-person visits to larger existing clients.
  • Prospect and qualify new potential clients with in-person visits or other means.
  • Attend tradeshows as an exhibitor and/or an attendee to network and promote SidePlate
  • Manage and provide excellent follow-up on all new contacts made within a timely manner.
  • Follow-up on completed projects to gain important customer feedback.
  • Maintain up to date customer and project data in current customer resource management software.
  • Maintain activity in local Structural Engineers Association or other similar organizations.
  • Develop relationships with appropriate AISC Regional Reps & companies offering complimentary products for additional sources of leads.
  • Conduct periodic field visits to observe SidePlate connection fabrication and erection.
  • Meeting regular sales targets.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering or construction-related major.

Experience

  • General understanding of building codes, earthquake engineering, statics, dynamics, and structural load path.
  • (4) or more years of experience in structural engineering, with significant seismic experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license strongly preferred. Unlicensed candidates with direct relevant experience may be considered.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret applicable building codes, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical publications, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, media, and the public.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.

Computer Skills

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office and proficient skills in Word and Excel, as well as a familiarity with various structural engineering software platforms used to analyze building structures.

Other Requirements

  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; participates in meetings. Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.

Travel

  • Up to 35% of the total work time spent traveling to potential and existing customers, tradeshows, fabricator shops, and project sites as necessary.
