Job Description

At IPS, you'll apply your knowledge, skills, and passion to make a difference in people's lives, solving complex challenges related to pharmaceutical, biotech, and animal health research and manufacturing facilities. We're looking for an experienced, creative mid to senior-level Electrical Engineer, recognized for technical expertise, to work concurrently on various design projects. Responsibility will include oversight of the entire design process or assisting as a technical expert on a specialized design.

As an experienced electrical engineering career, you'll prepare design computations and quantity estimates and develop probable construction cost estimates for electrical projects (medium voltage power distribution, low voltage systems, fire alarm systems, backup power generation, electrical power distribution, life safety systems, etc.). You'll also use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.). Making calculations will require the use of engineering formulas and skills for design such as lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, etc.

Based in the San Francisco Bay area, you'll research design options and document findings for Project Designers/Engineers or write electrical design scopes of work based on preliminary reviews and meetings with clients. You'll also prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze the operation of existing systems. Some drawings you'll create yourself, and other sketches will be incorporated into drawings by drafters. You may create specialized drawings such as electrical riser diagrams. These drawings and designs must be done in accordance with company production and design standards. You'll then select equipment based on Project Designer/Engineer recommendations and fill out equipment schedules. When code issues arise, you'll research them and ask general questions of code officials. You'll also do estimating, review contractor applications for payments, review construction budgets, and coordinate document completion.

You will regularly interact with clients, listening to their needs, and positively demonstrating the IPS focus on client experience. You'll build strong relationships with internal design teams and external clients as you work to provide solutions, all while building life-impacting facilities.

Work schedules are flexible with a hybrid model. You'll be expected to travel for occasional meetings and site visits (around 5-15% of your time).

Salary Range $117,000-$175,000
