How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?The Instrument & Controls Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, documents and repairs a wide variety of industrial instrumentation including electronic monitoring, metering, controlling and signaling devices used in the production of chemical-based materials. The Instrument Technician must be a self-starter and is expected to work independently due to the diverse nature of the work.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Setting up and operating electronic instrumentation
Translating test data for engineering staff
Communicating with engineering personnel regarding data acquisition plans and test specifics
Operating test apparatus to regulate effects of simulated or actual conditions
Analyzing data using mathematical formulas
Replacing or repairing faulty components
Preparing written reports detailing test results
Selecting and installing circuitry and instrumentation
Performing preventative maintenance of instrumentation
Calibrating and checking instrumentation
Modifying instruments as needed
Communicating frequently with Maintenance staff and all necessary departments
Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and specifications in making installations or performing major repair work.
Serving as a technical resource to others
Troubleshooting PLC software and hardware
Making recommendations and performing software changes
Maintaining documentation of changes to the software and hardware
Successfully complete all required trainings
Required Qualifications:
High school degree or GED required
5+ years of relevant experience performing instrument calibration
Fitness for duty, including but not limited to: ability to lift 50 pounds and have the ability to climb ladders
Ability to travel up to 10% for training and cross site support requirements
Knowledge of: The safe use of a wide variety of hand and power tools, electronic and electric test equipment as related to field and shop work; and safe work practices.
Knowledge of: theory of programmable logic controllers and man machine interface software and hardware (Siemens and Allen Bradley)
