Position Summary:

Incumbent ensures scanned images meet quality control standards before releasing records in the electronic medical record system. Assures documentation is properly indexed according to document management system guidelines, and is properly linked to patient and episode.

Salary Range:

Hourly Rate Minimum $21.72 Midpoint $24.37 Maximum $27.02

Required Qualifications:

Ability to perform job functions and make task-related decisions without direct supervision

Must maintain work product accuracy standards of 95% or better

Must work in accordance with HIPAA

Good eye-hand coordination to be able to page through stacks of paper and quickly observe misfiles

Computer operating skills to include login and logoff, opening, closing, saving and copying files and printing documents

Good communication skills to articulate performance improvement opportunities and work with others to improve quality outcomes

Good attention to detail to be able to accurately review scanned images for quality control criteria

Ability to independently problem solve and apply sound reasoning to new and/or non-routine situations

Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time without impacting productivity and accuracy

Prior experience working in an acute care hospital medical record department

Experience with a computerized medical record application

Ability to learn to calibrate and maintain scanning equipment and to troubleshoot equipment problems at a second tier level

Good keyboard skills with ability to accurately transfer information from eye to keyboard without transposing information

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Knowledge of medical terminology

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
