Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the electrical design of complex switchgear and motor control up to full production. This includes specification review, design review, simple mechanical design, developing documentation packages, preproduction builds, and transfer to production
  • Provide technical support of products currently in production and in the field
  • Complete all phases of the engineering process to ensure accurate and timely completion of customer approvals and manufacturing drawings
  • Develop detailed engineering documentation including single-line and three-line diagrams, panel elevations, general arrangements, and wiring schematics
  • Lead and mentor engineering and designer team to convert engineering concept into working schematics
  • Using prescribed methods, perform specific and limited portions of project proposals for the intent of budgetary pricing and scope of supply
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with external and internal Customers
  • Assist in the review and approval of contractor plans, detailed scope descriptions, detailed schedules, risk management approach and budgets
  • Explain project specifications in a clear and concise manner
  • Produce quality work products, proposal document, which meet or exceed customer expectations and conforms to Company standards and procedures
  • Clearly understand project requirements and specifications; scope, budget, schedule, and expectations set by the Engineering Manager Supervisor Project Engineer and/or Project Manager
  • Obtain input from internal sources on prior projects that may have similar scope and specifications
  • Provide input to others as requested concerning their project needs
  • Provide technical direction, serve as a point of contact or business liaison, prepare briefings for senior management, and assist in problem resolution specific to the program/project
  • Work with Sales and Marketing on budgetary pricing for bids and proposals
  • Complete task assignments within established budgets and schedules
  • Communicate with Engineering Manager Supervisor Project Engineer and/or Project Manager when budget and schedule impacts or problems occur on projects
  • Perform routine engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Provide engineering expertise/support during estimation, sales, manufacturing, testing, installations, commissioning, and operations
  • Review company's standards and guidelines; stay current and apply them; get peers to review work
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to provide consultancy services and support to customers

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in electrical design including power analyses processes (knowledge of coordination studies and fault analysis)
  • Knowledge of design, repair and analysis of electrical systems. Must have exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies
  • Extensive knowledge of Utility Service equipment and Motor Control Centers as installed and in use. Prior experience with Utility Service Engineering Design departments a plus
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of medium and low voltage three phase power systems
  • Familiar with current NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E and 29 CFR 1910.333 regulations as they apply to Electrical Safety in the workplace.
  • Ability to design, and understand aspects of electrical components, equipment, and machinery
  • Extensive knowledge in AutoCAD Electrical, computer-assisted engineering and design software
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge and usage of SKM Power Tools Electrical Engineering Software is a plus
  • Understanding of manufacturing workflow, including planning activities

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in electrical design with current circuit technology and processes (analog, digital and/or high voltage design)
  • At least 10 years' experience in design and analysis of electrical/electronic systems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Training Requirements:

  • Tesco Controls, Inc. general safety requirement training

Physical Demands:

  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and reach

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in an office environment
  • Work performed in production/ manufacturing environment

Pay offered will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and geographic location. We may pay more or less than the range based on the person's qualifications. In good faith we believe the range is what we will pay for this role at the time of the posting and may change in the future. In addition, Tesco offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vacation, holidays, and 100% 401K match of your contributions up to 4% of your earnings.
