Job Description

  • This position is a youth advocate position with a mission to connect with Youth ages 18 to 24 in the community.
  • It is a temporary part-time position for up to 3 months.
  • Team memberwill identify and recruityouth who are eligible for the WIOA Youth program.
  • Help connect youth to services, such as, career exploration, paid internship, skills training,and careerservices.
  • Meet with participants to connectthem withthe WIOA Youth Program
  • Identify and develop community resources and natural support systems for program participants and families
  • Initiate, organize, and/or participate in community events and educational opportunities to promote the WIOA Youth Program, serving as a liaison and "go to person" for youth service information
  • Make referrals, assist with service linkage, and educate youth and community agencies on how to access and use community resources and services
  • Follow-up on all referrals
  • Serve as conduit to help transition participants to other programs and services offered by workforce
  • Establish eligibility determination, prior to referring participants to case manager
  • May conduct orientations for outreach purposes
  • Attend scheduled supervision meetings to discuss participants' progress
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Bachelor's not required. HS diploma sufficient

  • Coordinate outreach and actively engage with young adults in the community.
  • Develop and implement creative and effective strategies for reaching out to potential program participants, including flyering, community events, and street-level engagement.
  • Build rapport with young adults, communicate the benefits of the program, and encourage them to participate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Public Relations, or related fields, preferred; or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience
  • Experience in social media applications
  • Three years of experience working in the area of recruitment, sales, or community development
  • Experience working with youth
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working in a culturally diverse community setting
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work with and relate to participants and be culturally sensitive
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be computer literate and possess MS Word and Excel skills and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and insurance
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Moderate travel required
