Job Summary:

Mobile Crisis Response Community Worker (MCRCW) will work in partnership with the therapist to provide mental health services in the community in order to deescalate crisis, assess the mental health needs of the families and individuals, coordinate services with other providers, and make necessary referrals. The mobile crisis response team will work in collaboration with the LAPD to respond to non-violent calls in the community that may have a social services impact including but not limited to (a) mental health, (b) substance abuse, (c) suicide threats, (d) behavioral distress, (e) conflict resolution, and (f) welfare checks;

The Mobile Crisis Response Community Worker will work in 12-hour shifts from 9am-9pm with no on-call responsibility when off shift. The position will work three-day work week followed by a four-day work week on a rotating basis Monday-Sunday. In addition to the base hourly rate, the Community Worker will also receive overtime pay each week for all hours worked beyond 8 hrs in a day and 40 hrs in a week in accordance with all state overtime requirements.

The MCRCW will be working directly with a Therapist and Clinical Manager to ensure quality of care and respond to calls in a van provided by the agency. The position works collaboratively with the team to assess and link the families and individuals to needed community services and coordinate all the services that they will potentially receive. The position documents all service according to the guidelines of the program and Penny Lane policy and procedures.

The Mobile Crisis Response Community Worker is dedicated to providing needed services within the community and is passionate about attending to the safety and well-being of the people in the local communities. The Community Worker is a "credible messenger" with lived experience that possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills when working with clients, outside agencies, members of the community, and co-workers. When in a client's home or in community, the Community Worker will employ a calm demeanor and good ethical and professional boundaries. Teaming, collaborating and coordination of care with all Penny Lane staff, local law enforcement leads, and other outside agencies is crucial. This position requires flexibility, excellent time management skills and the ability to manage responsibilities efficiently with little supervision.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of high school diploma
  • Must have lived experience of being diagnosed with a mental illness or having a family member diagnosed with a mental illness or lived experience of being formerly unhoused.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred (verbal skillset only).
  • Valid California driver's license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization's insurance company; have immediate access to his or her vehicle during work hours.

Position Location: North Hills, CA

Position Shift: 9:00am to 9:00pm (12-hour shifts, with no on-call responsibilities when not on shift; Will work three-day work week followed by a four-day work week on a rotating basis Monday-Sunday)

Salary Range: $20.09 up to $29.36 per hour

Additional $1.00 per hour bilingual Spanish differential.
