Associate Professor of Neurology (Tenure)-CHLA Keck School of Medicine Faculty Los Angeles, California

The Saban Research Institute at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, in collaboration with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, seeks to hire an outstanding scientist at the rank of associate professor (tenure track). The candidate must have substantial experience in human imaging, with specific expertise in structural and functional imaging, mass spectroscopy, with an emphasis on imaging in infants and toddlers. There are several desirable areas of research emphasis, including brain structural and functional adaptations following hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and longitudinal neuroimaging studies that also involve biosample collection and robust child development and caregiver assessments.

Applicants should have an outstanding record of research and scholarly accomplishments, including success in obtaining grants from the National Institutes of Health, other federal agencies, as well as non-profit organizations. Applicants also should have record of establishing collaborations across disciplines. Those candidates with a strong interest in translational neuroscience are encouraged to apply.

Education Requirements: Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree.

Qualifications and Experience: Candidates must have the following:

  • A minimum of 8 years of postgraduate research experience
  • Demonstrated national leadership in brain imaging consortia
  • Broad imaging expertise, including design and implementation of magnetic resonance spectroscopy data collection and analyses
  • Experience in diverse research staff management
  • Direct evidence of establishing an extramurally funded, independent research program
  • Experience in mentoring trainees and early career investigators
  • A track record of excellence with first and senior author peer-review publications
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in working productively in a team science environment

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000-$212,000.
