Job Description
Under the direction of the Operations Manager and Production Supervisor, the WFC Assistant Supervisor will be responsible for supporting the Production Supervisor in the guidance of WFC department, to increase department efficiencies and reduce safety/quality incidents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Instructs assigned WFC staff in daily job duties, including organizing and moving personnel as needed to increase efficiency, and passing out PPE.

* Verifies line area processes and notifies Production Supervisor if process check does not meet specifications.

* Ensures technicians are in compliance with GMP/Safety rules and are following company policies and procedures. Will be responsible to escalate any issues to Production Supervisor or Management team.

* Must work in cooperation with management, maintenance, general labor staff and temps.

* Prevents accidents by recognizing physical and behavioral hazards and taking corrective action

* Leads daily risk predictions and team meetings, as well as conduct area training and tailgates.

* Understands and complies with union contract.

* Ensures production meets or exceed quality standards.

* Adheres to and ensures team's adherence to GMP and Quality System guidelines, and able to correct any issues.

* Deliver safety and operations training

* Must successfully complete 10-hr. OSHA training.

* Must communicate with the Operations Manager and/or HR Manager for disciplinary procedures.

* Must be able to accurately complete Q.C. & production paperwork.

* Understands and complies with Union contract; reports any potential issues to management and may assist with corrective actions.

* Report and direct all holds reworks and add backs.

* Assure adherence to GMP, Food Defense, Food Safety, Food Quality, and quality system guidelines.

* Approve timecards and complete daily headcounts; report any attendance issues.

* Assure drums are scanned

* Monitor and log metal detector checks

* Make product labels.

* Must be willing to work in multiple areas (filler, dumper, sorter, etc.)

* Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.

* Responsible for ensuring production goals are met and for sending out daily production summary.

* Ability to learn and oversee all positions in the WFC department, including Operator and 2X.

* Conduct Metal Detector checks according to Food Quality plan. Document checks on Food Safety and Food Quality forms

* Shutdown, set up and start up of the 2X Puree line

* Set up lines for processing various pack styles.

* Must be able to safely handle and mix cleaning chemicals.

* Mechanical aptitude, able to acquire fundamental knowledge of boiler.

* Must oversee completion of daily master cleaning schedules.

* Heavy manual work alongside crew required.

* Must work in cooperation with management and maintenance staff

* Ensure production equipment are properly maintained and sanitized

* Relieve or assign relief to workers in the department

* Must insure that all forklift drivers are adhering to OSHA regulations when driving a forklift.

* Work with Human Resources and work out labor needs for the following work day.

* Must be able to carry out all functions of a Line Monitor as indicated on the position step up card.

* Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Requires standing (75%) during an eight to ten hour shift on a concrete surface which has rubber anti-fatigue mats.

2. Requires walking (25%) during an eight to ten hour shift on a concrete surface. Maximum distance is approximately four feet.

3. Requires working near moving mechanical parts.

4. Requires reaching with hands and arms.

5. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls;

6. Required to climb or balance.

7. Required to stoop and bend at the waist, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

8. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move more than 100 pounds.

9. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

10. Continual exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.

11. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles and strong or caustic chemicals.

12. Occasionally exposed to vibration and outdoor weather conditions.

13. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education

* HS Diploma/GED or equivalent experience

Experience

* Strawberry Processing

* Thorough understanding of all assigned line work (i.e., General Labor work including drum washing, sorting processes including color sorter)

Other

* Must be able to effectively supervise a crew, and have good communication skills.

* Good attendance record and no disciplinary actions above a verbal warning.

* Must have basic math skills.

* Must become qualified through the step-up process

* Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. continuously.

* Willing to work any hours required

This position is eligible for benefits as defined in The Frozen Food Agreement.

Pay Range: $22.75/hour to $22.99/hour
