With more than 120 operations and approximately 20,000 employees worldwide, Precision Castparts Corp. is the market leader in manufacturing large, complex structural investment castings, airfoil castings, forged components, aerostructures and highly engineered, critical fasteners for aerospace applications. In addition, we are the leading producer of airfoil castings for the industrial gas turbine market. We also manufacture extruded seamless pipe, fittings, and forgings for power generation and oil & gas applications; commercial and military airframe aerostructures; and metal alloys and other materials for the casting and forging industries. With such critical applications, we insist on quality and dependability - not just in the materials and products we make, but in the people we recruit.
PCC is relentless in its dedication to being a high-quality, low-cost and on-time producer; delivering the highest value to its customers while continually pursuing strategic, profitable growth.
In 2016, Berkshire Hathaway, led by Chairman and CEO Warren E. Buffett, acquired Precision Castparts Corp.
MISSION: The objective is to assist San Leandro operations in meeting its business and financial goals through the elimination of process variability. The development and implementation of statistical and analytical controls for internal and external consistency will be a key component resulting in first time process yield improvements and scrap reduction. The engineer's performance will be measured on his or her ability to contribute to the plant operation's P & L.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for identifying and attacking process yields using various data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, etc.) to uncover variables in the process that are not maintained in a controlled fashion.
Assure all process engineering proposals and activities are in compliance with customer and/or regulatory requirements.
Audit of operation departments for compliance with procedural requirements.
As required, update of procedural requirements and training of applicable operations staffing.
Reduction of total scrap by a minimum of 20% on assigned part and/or product family assignments.
Execute pipeline (cost reduction) projects that result in annualized savings of $150,000.00 minimum.
Continually look for ways to reduce operational costs, projects may be in the form of material reduction, variable cost improvement, or aforementioned scrap/rework reduction.
Establish expert reputation with plant staff managers concerning process variability concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A four year engineering degree is required, materials background preferable.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Computer literate; knowledge in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
CAD capability, SolidWorks experience preferable
Assertive, energetic, self-starting, risk-taker with the ability to break through historical barriers and paradigms for out-of-the-box, data driven problem solving techniques.
Tremendous desire to be a change leader by establishing proven results.
