The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a part-time Therapist to join the Antelope Valley-UCLA Public Partnership (AV-UPP) Program. You will work with children (ages 0-21), parents, and families regarding placement, adoption, and attachment. Primary duties include:
- Providing training and mentoring on mental health issues of this population to professionals and parents in the community
- Consultation to interdisciplinary team members
- Providing age appropriate assessments and interventions
- Leading parent support groups and providing supportive therapeutic environments with special attention to issues of placement and adoption with prenatally substance exposed children
- Providing temperament counseling for parents
- Conducting developmental evaluations of children
- Holding caseload of individual therapy and collateral therapy
- Planning and delivering trainings sessions for clients, social workers, attorneys, judges, educators, and other mental health care professionals
- Other duties as assigned
Salary range:
$64,800/yr – $137,600/yr
Educational Requirements:
– Masters or Doctorates Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy (MFT) or Counseling
Licenses/Certifications:
– Appropriate CA License in Marriage Family Therapy or Professional Clinical Counselor
Experience/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with mental health treatment and intervention techniques for children (ages 0-21) and their parents
- Knowledge in parent-child intervention with high-risk children
- Knowledge of normal child development, parenting, and child abuse/neglect
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and issues regarding prenatal substance abuse and it’s impact on the child
- Experience with the Department of Mental Health billing and paperwork requirements (preferred)
- Experience providing evidence-based practices to children and families
